Latest adobe reader for mac el capitan

I go through all the steps listed on the help menu, and at the end of the installation, says that the installation was successful.

I have gone to Adobe's website: and tried to update Adobe Reader DC while following all the instructions on the help menu. I'm unable to update Adobe Reader v 11.0.10 to the latest version on Mac OS X 10.8.5.
